Subsequent Environmental Impact Report – Waterside Development/Revitalization
After a three and one half year delay the County has restarted the California Environmental Impact Act, CEQA, process for the waterside development. We've created a page here that provides all of the documents that you should required to be able to constructively participate in this process. On 11/19/11 we added additional documents to help you with your analysis.

City of Dana Point and OC Dana Point Harbor's Proposed Building Heights
During the October 2009 Land Use Plan hearing the California Coastal Commission recognized the City’s proposed commercial expansion was pushing out and damaging the harbor’s existing recreational boating resources. Hence they made a motion that instead of the 50 and 60 foot buildings in the City’s proposal that the buildings height must be consistent with the local community which is approximately 35’. The passed motion Has NOT correctly been implemented in “final” Land Use Plan.

You can see a flier that our members created here.
You can read our July 27th speech to the City Council at the first reading here.
You can read our second speech , 9.27, to the City Council here.
You can read our letter to the California Coastal Commission here.
You can read our letter to the editor hear.
You can read our testimony at the Coastal Commission Hearing in June where they agreed with us and sent the Land Use Plan back to the the City here.

Here is the “one pager” that we provided to City and County staff and elected officials in February wiht the hope that they would fix the issue at the City Council level. Unfortunately they did not.

Here is the testimony that we gave at the first reading before the City Council. They voted unanimously to approve it as submitted by their staff.

Here is the testimony that we gave at the second reading before the City Council. Again they unanimously approved it as submitted by their staff.

Here is the testimony that we gave at the June 2010 California Coastal Commission hearing in Marina Del Rey. As a result of our testimony the Land Use Plan was sent back to the City for correction.

Here is the letter to the editor that we provided to the local media so that they could help us communicate the issue and our purpose for our actions.

Here is the letter that we provided to each of the City Council members in hope that this time they will make sure that document and their actions are certifiable when presented to the California Coastal Commission.

City of Dana Point and OC Dana Point Harbor's Proposed Slip Loss
As part of the Dana Point Harbor Revitalization process the California Coastal Commission is asking OC Dana Point Harbor and the City to be more specific on their proposed slip elimination plan before the Commission approves or rejects the Local Program Amendment in October 2009 (click here for meeting details). The City and OC DPH are using the Boater Focus Group Process and are requesting your vote. A Slip Loss Page has been set up to help you understand, engage, vote and speak out.

OC Dana Point Harbor's Proposed Slip Fee Increase
Every year Boaters in Dana Point Harbor are faced with a slip fee increase following a four year cycle. In 2009 we are facing the "MARKET" rate adjustment which is typically in the low double digits. To learn what we are doing about it and see some interesting analysis please click here.

Govenor's Proposed Elimination of Department of Boating and Waterways
The Governor is proposing the elimination of the Department of Boating and Waterways to supposedly save $600,000 annually. The RBOC and others have issued a Call-to-Arms and is asking boaters to take action to prevent the elimination from occurring. Please follow instructions found here.

Possessory Interest Tax
