City of Dana Point and OC Dana Point Harbor's Proposed Building Heights
During the October 2010 Land Use Plan hearing the California Coastal Commission fully recognized the City’s proposed commercial expansion was pushing out and damaging the harbor’s existing recreational boating resources. Hence they made a motion that instead of the 50 and 60 foot buildings in the City’s proposal that the buildings height must be consistent with the local community which is approximately 35’. The passed motion was NOT correctly implemented in the final document.
Here is the “one pager” that we provided to City and County staff and elected officials in hope that they would fix the issue at the City Council level. Unfortunately they did not.
Here is the testimony that we gave at the first reading before the City Council. They voted unanimously to approve it as submitted by their staff.
Here is the testimony that we gave at the second reading before the City Council. Again they unanimously approved it as submitted by their staff.
Here is the testimony that we gave at the June 2010 California Coastal Commission hearing in Marina Del Rey. As a result of our testimony the Land Use Plan was sent back to the City for correction.
Here is the letter to the editor that we provided to the local media so that they could help us communicate the issue and our purpose for our actions.
Here is the letter that we provided to each of the City Council members in hope that this time they will make sure that document and their actions are certifiable when presented to the California Coastal Commission.
