Boaters for Dana Point Harbor will host a Second Possessory Interest Tax and Boat Tax workshop. We will help prepare for the hearings for those who filed their appeals last year as well as help file the appeals for the tax bills that were received in the last few weeks. Please bring your bills from this year and last along with any notices you've received. We will be adding documents to this page: Possessory Interest Tax as the campaign moves forward.

California Coastal Commission will hold a hearing to determine if it should certify the Land Use Plan that was approved by the Commission a year ago. It is item 13 a on the Wednesday agenda and would likely be heard in the morning. The hearing starts at 9:00. Click here for the official agenda and address.

Dana Point City Council Hearing on Certifying the Land Use Plan. 6:00 in the City Council Chambers. The County and City will hold the second reading to try to pass language in the LUP that will allow them to circumvent the Building Height Amendment passed by the Coastal Commission in October, 2009. Passed 5-0.

a. City of Dana Point LCP Amendment No. DPT-MAJ-1-08 (Certification Review). Concurrence with the Executive Director’s Determination that the action by the City of Dana Point, accepting certification of DPT-MAJ-1-08 with modifications is acceptable. The amendment establishes new land use designations and boundaries throughout the harbor; expands allowable development by approximately 153,000 sq.ft. (all uses) including commercial development (+7,300 sq.ft. retail/+50,000 sq.ft. restaurant), enlarged hotel (136 rooms to 220 rooms) plus conference facilities, new marine retail (9,100 sq.ft.), among other expanded uses; changes parking requirements; reduces space allocated for surface boat storage; and changes height limits to allow for 65 ft. tall dry stack storage building for 400 boats and up to 60-ft. tall commercial buildings. California Coastal Commission hearings in L.A./Orange County. In October the Coastal Commission approved the Land Use Plan. They still need to approve the Implementation Plan before the City of Dana Point has a Local Coastal Program, LCP. It is possible but not likely that the hearing on the IP will be at this meeting.

California Coastal Commission Hearings: Our LCPA 1-08 for the Dana Point Commercial Expansion is scheduled to be heard on Thursday October 8th, 2009. As of the first publishing of the hearing agenda by the Coastal Commission an updated staff report was not issued but is expected shortly. You can find the last staff report and the proposed LUP on the Documents Page. Our item is number TH 22.A and you can see the Commission's agenda here. We will post more specific information as soon as the CCC releases it.

Dana Point Boaters Association Board of Directors turned the Association’s first quarter meeting over to Brad Gross, Director, OC Dana Point Harbor. I hope to post meeting minutes from this meeting here shortly.

The California Coastal Commission hearing was held at Oceanside City Hall. LCPA 3-06 for our proposed commercial expansion was not heard at this hearing.

California Coastal Commission Staff issued Staff report but it did not include LCPA 03-06. The City and County withdrew and then refilled their application which restarted the clock. Published staff reports can be found by clicking here.

I am planning on hosting a rally at St. Edwards Church. CANCELLED AS I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT THIS CONFLICTS WITH A DANA POINT BOATERS ASSOCIATION MEETING. If I am able to find another date and venue I will still get everyone together to prepare for up comming hearings. DPBA never held a meeting.
